HCCI is an operating technique for CI engines which is controlled by chemical kinetics. HCCI is mainly considered because of its high efficiency and low NOx emissions.  A well-developed mechanism which describes the low and temperatures heat release regimes of the fuel would help in accurate modelling of an engine cycle. Coupling the mechanism with a CFD model would allow predicting the behavior of the engines at different operating conditions.
